Catching Up and Some Nail Art

School is in full swing and we are swamped!  I am loving my schedule, and my classes, but Mark and I are still running around trying to balance everything.  I have been taking lots of pictures lately for Instagram, and I've decided it would be really easy for me to share what's going on by sharing the pics I take!

Today, I am sharing one of my newest passions; nailart!  I have been having a great time creating all sorts of designs, and I have been building up a nail polish collection by purchasing a lot of really inexpensive polishes with a few higher end colors that I just had to have.

Here's a few of favorite looks from the last month or two:

For this look, I used NYC black under three or four coats of the glitter.  I put one layer of the glitter over almost the entire nail, but then added more layers to the bottom, creating a gradient effect.  These nails really popped and are perfect for a night out!

I love, love, love the next look, and I have it on my nails right now!  I used two coats "Green with Envy' from Maybelline, and then used a matte top, which took the shine out of the polish.  Then, I used the head of a pin to add the dots in coral and black.  Polka dots would be so easy this way, too!

Before we left for a beach vacation this summer, I put this sunset manicure on my nails and it was so easy.  I used a damp make sponge (the triangle/wedge kid) to make the gradient eff. I painted stripes of the colors I wanted onto the sponge, then applied it to my nails.  It took a little bit of practice, but it went really quickly after I got the hang of it.  I then added a layer of fine silver glitter as the top layer, and these nails lasted quite a while.  Sorry, my nails look kind of messy in this one, but I did clean them up after this!

Do you do your own nails?  Ever tried any of these techniques?  Have any tips for me??
