We spent this whole weekend cleaning out the small space between the back of our house and the fence. It was filled with tall weeds and basically, junk. But, we totally cleaned it out, got the soil all mixed up, then leveled and put sod down! We also added bamboo fence coverings and are going to put lots of potted plants on the concrete slab. It will be a great, totally safe play area for Maggie for the summer. It is also really well shaded, which is a huge plus in Chico. The area is about 75 sq. ft., so not huge...but just awesome! I am going to really spending the next couple of weeks adding plants, seating and a play area for Maggie. We have access to a much bigger yard, but it is mostly a garden and has uneven ground. This small, fenced off area is right out our back door. I will be able to just open the door for her when I'm in the kitchen, and she will be safely confined to this yard. Yay! I'll post pictures as soon I'm done sprucing it up!
Maggie is really into imaginative play right now. She loves to pretend to eat, to sleep, to feed babies or other people...she just loves pretending! She also loves her books, getting dirty in the yard, playing in the water (today was her first sprinkler experience and we had to drag her inside kicking and screaming because her teeth were chattering), playing with her doll house and princess castle, and just having fun. She is talking a lot and is learning to count. She is also learning her colors, which is awesome. She knows the names of lots of animals, and all her body parts. She has started saying "Hey!" to protest something, which I think she picked up from me.
She is sweet and loving, and gives hugs and kisses freely. She also gets lots of laughs when we enter a park or a restaurant or anywhere fun because she goes "Ohhhhhh! Yay!!" and will start clapping and spinning in circles and dancing. No kidding. She is hilarious.
Her crazy hair is turning into beautiful light brown ringlets. We get so many comments about how much she looks like both of us. I love it. She is wonderful, and an amazing daughter. It just keeps getting better and better!
